Travel day on the plate
How i get proper nutrition wilst being on the road
I travel a lot and sometimes its definitely hard to get proper nutrition in. But after my many years of shoots, flights, car rides and much more… I think I have this figured out now. And just a reminder as always this is not advice provided by a dietitian, it is friendly nutrition to be used for inspiration in your own meals and lives.
Coffee always
Coffee is a given, but if I am leaving super early when its not accessible, I tend to learn towards the before you speak collagen sachets. They are great and give you the little hit you need and easy to cart around, just add water and you are good to go.
AM on the go brekky/ snack
Apples are easy to grap and easy to eat especially if you ar driving, I also bring peanut butter with hemp seeds and a spoon to put it on the apple. A protein shake from a sachet with water is great to pear this with and a handful or almonds as well. Brekky muffins are amazing especially the savoury one… i’ll have a recipe up soon of my favourite one. A balanced snack with protein carbs and fat, easy to eat on the go and sure to keep you going a couple more hours.
Lunch in a jar???
If I get a chance to stop and grab lunch I often opt for a salad wrap with some sort of protein, that way if you have to keep going its easy to take with you and not too messy. If that’s not the case and you are constantly driving, I make my overnight salad in a jar. It’s so easy and can sit in your lap and still not get too messy. Recipe coming soon xx
3pm comes around and im suddenly so hungry….
The afternoons for me are always when I’m most hungry. I’m not sure why but this is definitely when I tend to reach for something. I opt for the health lab protein balls as its an easy on the go snack again and pre made with quite whole ingredients. It also has hemp seeds which is a big plus from me protein wise.
Dinner, what to do?
I am a big fan of fish and chips and usually you can find one in each town you go to. But the nutrition can lack a little from the green end of things. To pick up the satiation and pack in some more greens I pair the fish and chips with a salad of some sort and use any leftover nuts to again bump up the satiation a little.
A little something more
I’m not always do I have desert, but sometimes you just want a little extra. I often love a good dark chocolate with some type of berry. Honestly this ones up to you guys, desert is a very personal thing
This is just an example and is for inspiration use only. Please always listen to your body and what you want to eat. Also lots of water always as well xx.
